Community Participation Supports (CPS) is one of the backbones of community integration. At SweetTree, we support our individuals with being integrated into the community on a consistent basis. This is not just limited to outings of their choosing such as bowling, movies, going out to eat, and walks in the park. We will collaborate with our individuals and families to create a care plan that includes volunteer opportunities as we are looking to partner with local animal shelters and mentoring programs. We always take into primary consideration the needs and wants of the individuals to ensure that we are meeting their expectations of everyday life. As always, we are mindful of safety and well-being concerns when going through this planning process and adjust as the individuals progress and change their interests. We hire and train specialists to provide service delivery that is in keeping with the ODP model of everyday life. Specialists will accompany the individual in the community and provide any support that they may need to have a great and everyday life; but will promote as much as safely possible, an environment where the individual can enhance their independence though social skills, budgeting and financial literacy, and social awareness.
